Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) – Part-time

This position provides Psychiatric Urgent Care only.

Qualifications
Current New Jersey Licensed Advance Practice Nurse with a Master’s Degree from a school duly accredited by national accrediting agency approved by the State of New Jersey Board of Nursing for the preparation of psychiatric advanced nurse practitioners. Must be an R.N. and be certified as an advanced practice nurse by the Board of Nursing, having successfully passed the highest-level practice examination in the area of psychiatric mental health.

1. Ability to assess psychiatric needs and early warning signs of psychiatric crisis.
2. Ability to complete documentation for psychiatric evaluations and other services in an accurate and timely manner.
3. Ability to use MI to engage with individuals effectively.
4. Ability to educate individuals regarding the relationships between medications, behavioral health, and physical health issues.
5. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
6. Valid New Jersey driver’s license

Responsibilities
1. Uses Motivational Interviewing to provide psychiatric evaluations and other services to all participants.
2. Provides all psychiatric services consistent with SAMHSA’s 10 Principles of Recovery and Eight Principles of Wellness and Recovery.
3. Prescribes psychotropic medications, and provides education regarding medication side-effects, negative synergies with other medications, monitor medications to prevent negative reactions and ensure positive response to meds.
4. Provides emergency reassessments, emergency med management, and crisis consults for EISS participants confronting high-risk situations.
5. Consults with EISS Director and staff regarding the prevention of health disparities for vulnerable persons
6. Coordinate with Nurse-UCM, UCMs, and UCTs regarding integrated health needs, medical care for physical health problems, delivery of meds to high need individuals receiving Tier I services, and persons receiving Tier II skill-building treatment.
7. Meets weekly with consulting psychiatrist through collaborative service agreement.
8. Provide consultations/re-evaluations on a scheduled or emergency basis for participants.
9. Coordinates care with community treatment providers for physical health problems affecting behavioral health.
10. Participates in the development of WRAP plans for EISS participants.
11. Completes all required documentation in a timely basis per policies/regulations
