SUMMARY:Facts & Fiction About Mental Illness: An Art Therapy Based Workshop for Youth
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that 1 in 5 children have a parent who suffers from mental illness? The statistics are significant yet the mental health support for these children is minimal.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Mental Health Association’s (MHA) Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) is aiming to fill this need by designing a special art-based curriculum for youth (school-aged and high school) who have a family member (i.e.\, parent\, sibling\, cousin\, etc.) experiencing mental health issues. \n\n\n \n\n\nMHA’s art therapists and licensed counselors will facilitate a 2-part workshop that will provide youth with a supported space to receive mental health education\, develop connection with peers\, and creatively express themselves through art. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop will be held in person at the Verona Public Library during the following days and times:\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, July 11th from 4 pm to 5 pm\n\n\nMonday\, July 18th from 4 pm to 5 pm\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions or would like to register for this workshop\, contact Genaya Palmer at gpalmer@mhainspire.org to register in advance.
