Kicking Off Mental Health Awareness Month with Derby Day

Date: May 7, 2026Author: Noel Santos

This past weekend, we were proud to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month with one of our most anticipated events of the year, Derby Day, and what a success it was.

From the moment guests arrived, the energy was undeniable. Community members, supporters, and partners came together for an afternoon filled with connection, celebration, and a shared commitment to advancing mental health. It was more than just a festive gathering, it was a reminder of the power of showing up for one another.

Of course, no Derby Day celebration would be complete without a little style. Our Best Derby Hat and Best Bow Tie contests brought creativity, personality, and flair to the event, adding to the excitement and spirit of the day. The looks did not disappoint, and the friendly competition made it all the more memorable.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible sponsors, whose generosity made this event possible:

Winner’s Circle:

Anonymous
Cheryl Ehrgott
Milton-Stern Family Fund

Triple Crown:

Run for the Roses:

The Miller-Sherer Family

Churchill Downs:

Because of their support and the support of everyone who attended, we are able to continue providing critical mental health services and resources to those who need them most. Events like Derby Day are not only opportunities to gather, but also powerful moments that help drive our mission forward.

As we move through Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite you to stay engaged, continue the conversation, and support the work ahead.

If you were unable to attend Derby Day, there is still an opportunity to make an impact. Your donation helps ensure that individuals and families have access to the care and support they deserve.
