A Conversation with Michael Schiuma – IFSS ESSEX/SUSSEX Event

On Tuesday evening, February 13^th from 6:30-8:00pm, the IFSS Essex and Sussex teams are pleased to host a presentation and conversation with Michael Schiuma about his experiences coping with bipolar disorder and his ongoing journey of recovery.

Michael will share his early experience of having symptoms, how these symptoms worsened over time and the impact his condition had on major areas of his life and his relationships. He will also discuss his experiences with inpatient hospitalization and outpatient programs as well as how he came to develop personal strategies (still ongoing) that contributed to his recovery. Lastly, Michael will share his thoughts about how caregivers can support their loved one’s recovery. He is open and eager to answer any questions that participants might have.

Michael grew up in Sussex County, NJ and currently lives in N.Y.C., working as a Software Engineer. He has written a book about his experience called,  (In) Sane, Memoirs of a Manic Millennial which is available on Amazon books. Michael is eager to share his experiences with others to encourage mental health awareness and a better understanding of mental illness and recovery.
