The Mental Health Association promotes mental health and total wellness for individuals facing challenges associated with mental illness and addiction recovery. We increase community awareness while enhancing mental well-being through advocacy, education, prevention, treatment, and services.

MHA’s 988 Mobile Crisis Outreach Response Teams (MCORT) program officially launched, providing immediate support to non-life-threatening mental health, substance-related, or suicidal crises in Essex and Hudson Counties when deployed by the 988 Crisis Lifeline call centers.
In April, MHA proudly opened The Gathering Place, our new Community Wellness Centers in Morris and Sussex Counties. These centers provide a warm, supportive environment for adults facing mental health and substance use challenges.

A Voice in Trenton
MHA management staff, alongside our friends from Community Hope and NewBridge Services met with long-time mental health and substance abuse prevention supporter Assemblywoman Aura Dunn. Assemblywoman Dunn was generous with her time and is making sure our views and concerns of people we serve have a voice in Trenton.
A Meeting with Senator Anthony M. Bucco
MHA was grateful for the opportunity to meet with Senator Anthony M. Bucco, a longtime advocate for mental health, alongside leadership from Community Hope and NewBridge Services.
NJCM Law and Public Safety Conference
Deanna Ackerman, our Director of Morris Co-Response, Collaborative Justice Services, and Veteran and Family Support, recently spoke on a panel at the NJ Conference of Mayors Annual Winter Summit: Law and Public Safety Conference, focusing on New Jersey’s ARRIVE Together Initiative being implemented in all 21 counties.
Proclamation for 75 Years
MHA was honored receive a proclamation from Senator Anthony M. Bucco, Assemblywoman Aura Dunn, and Assemblyman Christian Barranco in recognition of MHA’s 75 Year Anniversary!

Essex Legislative Breakfast
It was a beautiful day of advocacy on 10/11 for the Essex County Mental Health Coalition's 24th Annual Legislative Breakfast! The sold out breakfast event featured more than 330 elected officials, executives, stakeholders and community members who spoke on issues pertaining to mental health, as well as opportunities to address ongoing developments, and current challenges facing the field.

It was a beautiful day of advocacy on 10/18 during the Morris County Mental Health Coalition's 6th Annual Legislative Breakfast! The breakfast event featured more than 220 elected officials, executives, stakeholders and community members who spoke on issues pertaining to mental health, as well as opportunities to address ongoing developments, and current challenges facing the field.

National Night Out
Our staff had the pleasure of attending National Night Out events across all the counties we serve during the month of August! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors, share resources, and celebrate community safety and togetherness.
MHA Challenge Coins
MHA had the privilege of presenting MHA challenge coins as a token of our appreciation to some of our dedicated partners we collaborate with. Their unwavering support and commitment play a vital role in our mission to serve the community.
Year in Bloom at Prospect House
One year ago MHA’s Prospect House, our Partial Care Program, launched its first horticulture group where members learned about annual flowers, discussed plant types, went on an outing to purchase flowers, and planted them together. Now a year later, it's thrived!
MHA Partners with NJMVC
We’re proud to partner with the NJMVC Mobile Unit to bring essential services like IDs and driver’s licenses directly to our offices, helping 68 individuals take meaningful steps toward independence and stability.
Overdose Awareness Day
Our Substance Use Recovery and Empowerment team, alongside Morris County’s Hope One Van, joined the community for Overdose Awareness Day to honor lives lost, support families, and take action against stigma.
Pillows for a Cause
A heartfelt thank you to the Garden State Quilters Guild for their incredible generosity! Over 70 beautifully crafted pillows were donated to the Riskin Children’s Center at MHA, bringing comfort and joy to the children we serve.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Veterans from our Veteran and Family Support Program had the incredible opportunity to participate in equine-assisted psychotherapy at Sisu Psychotherapy and Wellness in Stillwater, NJ with Lacy-Jo Gieger, LCSW.
EDGE NJ @ MHA
MHA partnered with EDGE NJ to provide mobile HIV testing, PrEP counseling, and other essential resources to our consumers and staff members across our Prospect House and Parsippany, NJ locations.
Montclair’s Mental Health Awareness Walk
MHA was honored to take part in Montclair’s Mental Health Awareness Walk on May 4 at beautiful Edgemont Park! This event brought the community together to raise awareness and walk in solidarity for mental wellness.
Coffee With A Veteran
MHA held their Annual Coffee with a Veteran social event in November, where individuals from the public are able to spend some time chatting with local veterans over a cup of coffee (along with other drinks and snacks).

MHA joined the movement started by Mental Health America to Be Seen in Green for #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth! Green is more than just a color—it's the international symbol for #mentalhealthawareness. Representing fresh starts, optimism, and energy, wearing green (or even adding a touch of it to your space) makes a bright and bold statement: I care about mental health!

Our MHA team came together in support of #WearRedDay, a day where people across the nation wear the color red to raise awareness for women's heart health.

Employee Appreciation Day
Our Annual Employee Appreciation Breakfasts were held at each location with a hot buffet style breakfast to enjoy before heading out into the field. MHA expresses gratitude to our staff and interns for the dedication and hard work put forth on a daily basis. Thank you!
